These Terms and Conditions define the contractual relationship between the customer and the French Institute in Jordan (IFJ). They outline the key elements of course registration, service delivery, and the obligations of all parties, as well as how these relate to the Institute’s internal policies, which all users and participants are expected to follow.
The Internal Regulations, which form an integral part of these Terms and Conditions, govern the day-to-day functioning of the Institute and set the framework for interactions among its various stakeholders. They include operational guidelines such as entry and exit procedures, student movement within the premises, and the conduct expected from all individuals on campus. They also define how rights and responsibilities are applied within the IFJ.
By submitting a registration request, the student confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted both the Terms and Conditions and the Internal Regulations.
Article 1 – Application
These General Terms and Conditions, along with the Internal Regulations, apply to all services provided by the French Institute in Jordan. This includes group and individual language courses—whether paid for directly by the learner or by a third party—as well as any related or supplementary services connected to teaching activities.
By completing the registration process, the learner—and, in the case of minors, their legal guardians—fully and unconditionally agree to these Terms and Conditions.
Article 2 – Terms of payment
The French Institute in Jordan accepts payments by credit card, cash, cheque, or secure payment link.Bank transfers are also accepted—either to the Institute’s euro account or its local account with Arab Bank. If a bank transfer results in charges to the IFJ, the Institute reserves the right to request reimbursement of those fees from the customer.
For standard course sessions, exam registrations, and participation in cultural or educational activities, payment plans or instalments are not available. Payment must be made in full and without delay. Partial payments will not be accepted.
Courses cannot be reserved in advance. Only pre-registration accompanied by full payment guarantees a place.
For services ordered by entities, organizations, or companies (as opposed to individuals), post-service payment may be authorized.
Article 3 – Admission Requirements
Language courses at the French Institute in Jordan are structured in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Each class is limited to a maximum of 14 students. A minimum of five enrolled students is required for a class to open. If this minimum is not met by the end of the registration period, the IFJ reserves the right to cancel the class.
In such cases, the IFJ commits to one of the following options:
Reassigning the student to another suitable class;
Postponing the enrolment to the next available session;
Or, if neither option is suitable to the student, offering a full refund of fees.
Course postponements are issued as non-transferable credit notes, valid for a period of 12 months only. These credit notes are processed by the regional accounting agency. After this 12-month period, the IFJ reserves the right to cancel the credit note, and no refund will be issued.
The credit note may be used for the following services: regular courses, tailor-made courses, summer camps, workshops, or access to the media library.
If a class session is postponed, the IFJ will notify students at least two hours in advance by email via the Arc en Ciel (AEC) platform. A new date will be proposed in coordination with the group.
A certificate of attendance may be issued upon written request.
Any request by a student to change groups must be submitted as early as possible and is subject to approval by the IFJ Course Department:
Before the end of the first week for intensive courses;
Before the end of the second week for regular courses.
The IFJ reserves the right to refuse enrollment or access to services, including French courses, without obligation to justify the decision. This may be based on prior violations of the Internal Regulations or a history of poor attendance, without limitation to specific incidents.
During the month of Ramadan, the IFJ reserves the right to modify the evening class schedule.
Article 4 – Registration Conditions and Fees
FeesCourse and service fees are available at the IFJ reception, on the official website (ifjordan.com), by email (info@ifjordan.com), or by phone (+962789566622).Fees may vary throughout the year.A student’s place in a course is only confirmed once full payment of the registration fees has been received in a single payment.No student will be admitted to a course without confirmation of payment.
Payment
It is the student’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of all course-related information—including level, schedule, dates, and classroom—as indicated on their payment receipt and in their student account on the AEC platform after payment confirmation.
Courses are open to students aged 6 and above, subject to availability.
The student’s language level is determined by a mandatory placement test, which must be completed in the following cases:
For new registrants who are not beginners;
For students who have interrupted their studies at the IFJ for more than six months.
Successful completion of the placement test entitles the student to a 10 JOD discount on the standard course rate (this discount does not apply to already reduced rates, such as those for students, LFIA members, organizations, or early-bird registrations).
The placement test fee is non-refundable, even if the course is canceled by the IFJ due to insufficient enrollment, as the test is considered to have provided the student with an accurate assessment of their level.
Students are not permitted to select their course level or instructor.
Course registrations are personal and non-transferable under any circumstances.
Discounts
Students may benefit from preferential rates, excluding the standard rate, under the following conditions:
Having completed a placement test corresponding to the granted session (discount applies only to the standard rate);
Re-enrolling within one of the last two sessions;
Being the second sibling enrolled;
Rates for organizations, partners, and embassies;
Student discounts;
Early-bird enrollment or re-enrollment at a reduced student rate.

Refunds or postponements may be considered only in the following situations:
If the IFJ cancels the course or modifies its schedule in a way that prevents the student from attending, as outlined in Article 6;
In cases of a clearly identifiable error in level placement, for which reassignment is not possible, and this applies only up to and including the third course.

It is the responsibility of the student or their legal guardians to obtain any insurance they consider necessary to protect their personal property.
Article 8 – Use of Image
The IFJ may photograph or film learners for the purpose of developing educational materials, unless a written objection is submitted by adult learners or, in the case of minors, their legal guardians. Outside of class hours, minors remain the sole responsibility of their parents or legal guardians.
The IFJ monitors attendance of minor learners every three weeks. Upon two unjustified absences, the administration will notify the parents or legal guardians and take the necessary measure.
Article 10 – Sanctions for Minor Students
The teacher may report serious incidents or repeated issues to the academic supervisor. The learner will then be summoned to receive a warning, and their legal guardians will be informed.
A second warning for a similar issue may be issued; following this, the learner will face permanent exclusion.
When necessary, the head teacher or principal may summon parents directly, without involving the teacher. The warning serves as a prerequisite to expulsion, which will be enforced upon the next offense.
Disciplinary exclusion takes effect immediately. A learner who has been excluded is prohibited from enrolling in language courses or examinations for a period of one year.
Article 11 – Resolution
If an adult student fails to fulfill one or more of their obligations under this agreement, especially in the case of a breach of the IFJ’s internal regulations, the IFJ may automatically terminate the student’s enrolment. This termination will take effect fifteen days after a formal notice—sent by letter or email to the student—has been issued, indicating the intention to enforce this clause and remains unaddressed.
The IFJ will retain all payments made for courses or services not used due to the early termination.
Article 12 – Intellectual property – Confidentiality
All course materials, equipment, and related documents or content provided to students during the courses remain the exclusive property of the IFJ, which retains full ownership of the associated intellectual property rights. These items must be returned to the IFJ upon request.

This confidentiality obligation continues for a period of three years following the conclusion of the relevant course or service agreement.
Article 13 – Cancellation period (online sales only)
In accordance with Article L.121-20-12 of the French Consumer Code, customers who register online have a 14-working-day period to cancel their registration without providing any reason or incurring penalties. This cancellation period starts from the moment the customer accepts these General Terms and Conditions of Sale.
Any cancellation made within this period will be fully refunded within 14 days of the cancellation request.
If the customer has already started using the services before cancelling, they will be responsible for paying for the portion of the service they have received.
Students wishing to cancel must notify the IFJ as soon as possible by email at: cours@ifjordan.com.
When a student exercises their right of withdrawal as specified in this article, the registration or pre-registration certificate issued by the IFJ becomes immediately void. The IFJ accepts no liability for any loss of benefits the student may suffer as a result of holding or presenting this certificate.
Please note that no withdrawal period applies to purchases made in person at the Registration Office.
In accordance with Article L.121-21-8 of the Consumer Code, the student expressly waives their right of withdrawal if the services outlined in the contract have been fully performed by the IFJ before the withdrawal period has expired.
